Hi blog followers, Guess what the photo in today's post shows! It shows a special gift for my sister Sora. Her sixteenth's birthday was coming, and I knew that she wanted a handbag. But I could not buy it for her, as it was too expensive. Fortunately, I found a website with great tips for decorating cakes. Following these tips, I made a handbag cake and gave it to Sora this morning. She was very pleased and said, "This is not a real handbag. But I love it because it shows me your sweet heart!"

In the famous ballet Swan Lake, ballerinas in white costumes dance like swans. But next month, you can see real swans perform in a ballet titled Swan. Preparations for the special ballet began even before the swans were born. The choreographer of the ballet handpicked swan eggs from zoos. When they hatched, he encouraged his ballerinas to spend time with them. The dancers learned the swans' behaviors and movements. This also let them get comfortable and build a strong connection with their winged partners. Are you a ballet lover? Then come and watch the graceful birds dance on stage!

Sean: Listen! In Mexico, people often arrive late on purpose when they are invited to a dinner. They consider this to be polite. And in Afghanistan, guests usually sit the farthest away from the door. Jisu: Well, I heard that in Bulgaria dinner guests do not give yellow flowers to the host. That's because they represent hate. Sean: How interesting! Jisu: I also heard that people in the Middle East prefer to keep quiet during meals. On the other hand, it is polite to make noise using your lips when you eat in Cambodia. It shows that the food is delicious. Sean: Really? I should go there. My mom always tells me I'm such a noisy eater!

Dear Soomin, You asked me to tell you about a symbol of Sweden in your last email. So let me introduce the Dala horse to you. The Dala horse is a carved and painted wooden horse. Dala horses were first created in the cabins deep in the forests in the 1700s. During the long winter nights, some people made their children toy horses. They carved horses because they thought horses were like faithful friends. Most early Dala horses were not painted at all. In the early 19th century, they were painted in a single color, like white or red. And these days, they come in many different colors and patterns. Do you know what I love most about Dala horses? They are all hand-made, so none of them are the same! I hope you like the story of the Dala horse, and I want you to tell me about a symbol of Korea sometime. |
